Sophie's Grandpa

My granddaughter was recently diagnosed with ADHD and auditory processing disorder. She required occupational therapy to learn how to recognize when she was having trouble sitting still and following directions. Her initial visits were on line with another company due to the pandemic. Because it was online it did not feel very beneficial and when she didn’t want to participate she would move away from the screen. At the end of her initial treatment visits the company could only fit her in during the school day which was upsetting to me. Why should a child who is already behind be forced to attend therapy during the school day causing her to miss crucial reading and math classes? I called every single OT company on our insurance list and they all said the same. No after school spots for 6-9 months or more out. When I found Cardinal Kids I was astounded by the honesty from the owner and her efforts to work with us in getting Sophie an appointment for after-school. Natalie Bruno researched our insurance coverage to help us get covered for her visits there (we were out of network). Our granddaughter’s therapist was Kaitlyn Durkin and our Sophie absolutely loved her. She also loved being able to go to OT in person rather than online. She said she loved going! Not only was Kaitlin wonderful with Sophie and helped her achieve all her goals, she had Sophie looking forward to going to OT like it was a playtime social activity. Sophie now can identify when she needs to calm down and from what she learned, pick activities that help her calm down, like yoga moves and using a hippity hoppity ball. We are very pleased with The success Kaitlyn has helped Sophie achieve and would highly recommend her to anyone in need of OT for their child. Thank you tremendously!
